Why Democracy is a fool's sport.

It's too bad idiots like these on both sides voted.  Obama isn't a terrorist and as for that teacher what that biased lady did was despicable.

BTW you can watch videos on the obama crowds too.  It's amazing how uninformed millions of Americans are.  What would I do?  I'd make people pass a test before they voted.  I'm serious.  I'd declare election day a national holiday.  Make people take a test before they voted.  Change?  Hope?  Terrorist?  100 year war?  Record profits?

Bah - so maybe I wouldn't do any of that... still though.  Why are people so freaking stupid sometimes?  I betcha these people are great at w/e job they have.  But politics really brings out the inner-idiot in people.  It makes rational carpenters, electricians, composers, bankers, lawyers, doctors, plumbers, and actors, (wait stratch actors, ain't none of them ever rational,) into irrational participants in a democratic process.  I'm not saying only rational people would vote McCain either - you can make very reasonable rational arguments for voting for Obama.  I am saying however that most people don't do that and by that I mean making a comprehensive rational argument to vote for either candidate based on their collective policies and a rejection of the alternatives policies.

Sorry for the Break

July 7, 2008 19:19 by johnolimbo

It's been busy lately.  Here is why I am disgusted and not writing much lately.  This should be a fitting analogy of the gimme gimme gimme election.  JFK's quote is now turned on it's head:  Ask what your country can do for you, not what you can do for your country.  To be fair Obama and Congress people are much more guilty of this than McCain but... even my guy is far from perfect.

Candidate 1: I promise that if I am elected we will get vending machines in the field house, the cafeteria and the senior lounge.  These are much needed and will provide nutritional relief for our growing student body.  As a growing first semester freshman I can tell you that change is needed.

Candidate 2: I promise that if I am elected we will get vending machines in the field house and the cafeteria.  I also promise that filet mignon and champagne will be served at lunch on a fairly regular basis.  We've worked hard and we deserve to eat well.

Candidate 1: Candidate 2 says he will provide filet mignon, but he won't be able to provide prime.  We could better spend that money by creating more parking spots.  Candidate 2's commitment to filet mignon and champagne show that he is out of touch with the burger eating solid C-student.

Candidate 2: Candidate 1 says I won't be able to provide to provide prime filet mignon, but I will be able to provide choice, which is considered 2nd best and restaurant quality.  I do not appreciate his school yard taunts - as they are uncalled for and are not representative of the change he claims to bring.  And I disagree with the parking spots, we would have to bulldoze the women's field hockey field.  That kind of policy is reckless and harmful.  I would also call for ice-cream bar friday's which would grant every student the equal opportunity to make hot fudge freedom sundays in the cafe.

Candidate 1: Candidate 2 says that my policy for more parking spots so that more students won't have to walk an extra un-American eighth of a mile to school is reckless and puts our safety at risk.  But what doesn't put us at risk is my call for teachers to be held to a higher grade accountability by their students.  We deserve the grades we know we deserve and we demand results!

Candidate 2: That isn't reckless, what is reckless is his policy for calling for no-prerequisite meetings with the heads of our rival schools.  This kind of behavior puts us all at risk.  Candidate 1's policy amounts to nothing more than coercing the faculty into handing out free A's.  This kind of policy is reckless because *being boo'd by the students*...

Enough

June 11, 2008 19:07 by johnolimbo

Obama and McCain... Every single thing... snip snip snip.  Like two dogs barking at each separated by a fence.  Well guess what?  I'm the neighbor and I want to sleep.  Talk about the issues and the substance, can the snipping.

I know the logic behind this: if you don't respond to a criticism it becomes part of the narrative, and/or it defines you.  It can also snowball etc... But jeez, enough is enough right?  Who is with me?

If A = B and B = C, A = C

June 11, 2008 04:49 by johnolimbo

In response to criticism of Jim Johnson, one of the three Obama Veep vetters, Obama said an interesting statement.

“These aren’t folks who are working for me,” Obama said. “They are not people, you know, who I have assigned to a job in the future administration, and ultimately my assumption is that this is a discrete task that they are going to be performing for me in the next two months.”

So they are not working for you... but they are working for you.  Ladies and Gentlemen, Barack Insane Obama!

Does he think we're that stupid?  He must.

Let them Drill! Let them Drill! Let them Drill!

June 10, 2008 08:44 by johnolimbo
Oh the price at the pumps is frightful,
But our oil fields are so delightful,
And since we've got more tanks to fill,
Let them drill! Let them drill! Let them drill!

Demand shows no signs of slowing,
And speculators are always going,
The weak dollar's starting to kill,
Let them drill! Let them drill! Let them drill!

When we finally do what's sound,
And drill everywhere and every way!
Then the price of gas will go down,
And growth will lead to greater pay

There is no other solution,
For our short term gas destitution,
But as long as you love me still,
Let them drill!  Let them drill!  Let them drill!

Amusing AP Entry Title

Long, busy summer lies ahead of McCain and Obama (AP)

I've heard of white lies... but busy summer lies?  More from Obama than McCain I guarantee you that.

Dallas Peace - Should change their name to Dallas Peevish-Poltroons.

May 27, 2008 21:01 by johnolimbo

Dallas Peace... http://www.dallaspeacecenter.org/

So I thought they would be a Pro-Peace organization.  Turns out they are a weak-on-defense, anti-military, moral-relativist, left-wing peddling, no-understanding-of-economics, dimwitted socialist type group.

Anti free trade propaganda on a Peace site?  Don't they even read philosophy?  The Left Wing peace theory relies on authors like Emmanuel Kant...(you know from your PHLS 101 Democratic Peace Theory) authors who advocated for economic interdependency, aka free trade, as a way to build a league of democracies - to use a McCain term.
How do educated liberals oppose free trade for the purposes of advocating peace?

This group makes horrendous claims about energy independence too - Get this:  They don't want to increase oil supply, they want to advance green renewable sources of energy.  No nuclear energy, no coal, nothing that is potentially dangerous to humans if... I dunno if... hmm dangerous if... I guess if we're all stupid.  Oh wait that's what liberals think of anyone not in their coterie.  Sorry I forgot that little prejudice.

The group's worst point is their Exxon Enough campaign.  I've seen lies in my life but nothing quite tops these:

Enough: of your pollution that harms the health of people living near your refineries and plants on the Texas Gulf Coast

Enough: of your profiteering from the Iraq War, while people die, the wounded and displaced are neglected, and you engage our troops in your attempt to grab huge Iraqi oil reserves

Enough: of your excess, windfall war profits while we pay outrageous prices for gas prices and watch economies around the world crumbling

Enough:  of the denial that burning petroleum products fuels global warming

All four of these points have been sufficiently debunked as credible criticisms... Maybe you could argue for the 2nd one if you agree with that interpretation but the other 3 are total crap.

I have one for y'all: Enough of Dallas Peace Center.  Get out of our town.

Enough of your lies!  They are not welcome!

Enough of your inadequately researched (if researched at all) and ill informed positions!  Hire someone with half a brain already!

Enough of your mis-leading name.  Join the CPUSA http://www.cpusa.org/ or the Socialist Party www.sp-usa.org!

As for my name suggestion:

Peevish means: querulous in temperament or mood, perversely obstinate or marked by ill temperament.

Poltroon means: a spiritless coward

So: Bad tempered and querulous spiritless cowards.  Doesn't that image just conjure up what a left-wing liberal is?  Yeah I thought so too.

One On None Conversation with Barack Insane Obama

April 22, 2008 14:19 by johnolimbo

One on None conversation with Barack Insane Obama

Change?  Hope?  Ok you’ve got me.  After seven years of the Bush administration – an administration that has done a lot of good and bad, I am ready for change.  I am always hoping for better too, so like I said, you’ve got me.  Real quick though, what kind of changes are you proposing?

Hmm, that sounds like a tax raise to me.

Ok so you are going to keep the cuts for the middle class but raise taxes on those who are more financially fortunate… Why is it ok to make the people already paying the most income taxes pay more?

Ok but don’t you think that is going to hurt investment in this country since the middle class has almost a negative savings rate and the wealthy have a high savings rate?  And since when is improving the economy synonymous with a tax increase, it’s usually the opposite bro.   You lower taxes to improve the economy… Kennedy had that idea remember?

Ok we’re just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.  But you know what let’s move on.  What else are you proposing?

Ok but doubling the capital gains tax from 15% to 28% is just going to cut revenues…  Why?  Because at such a high rate people will sit on their stocks as opposed to frequently trade because the margin per trade value goes down so greatly.  You know, if you want I can help you with this stuff I have a pretty good understanding of economics and I am looking for another summer internship... Oh ok you have economic advisors already?  Oh I know them, yeah they are pretty decent -- so what else are you proposing?

Hmm yeah Barack, bud, I don’t think that’s a good idea.  Free trade is a good thing.  You know your economic advisors have written pieces and taught the benefits of free trade… you should listen to them.  You won’t find many credible economists who oppose it.  I know it makes for good political rhetoric, but misleading or lying to the American people isn’t a good thing right?  Well let’s move on anyway.  Tell me what you plan to do to address our federal budget deficits?

WHAT?!  Barack you’re going to add 875 billion dollars in spending in your first year?!!!!  Hey now!  You know what that is going to do to our economy right?!  Ok… you know what I have to go.  Nice meeting you, and uh.. “good luck” in November.
